Tom Cruise is set to star in 'One Shot'.
The actor is in talks to take on the lead role in the Christopher McQuarrie-directed thriller, which has been adapted from the 2005 Lee Child novel of the same name.
In the book, ex-Army officer Jack Reacher - the role Cruise is being lined up for - gets sucked into the mystery surrounding the arrest of a sniper accused of killing five random people in a shooting.
This would not be the first time McQuarrie and Cruise have worked together.
McQuarrie co-wrote the screenplay for 'Valkyrie', which starred Cruise in 2008.
As well as being lined up for 'One Shot', the 48-year-old actor is to star in 'Rock of Ages', in which he will play ageing musician Stacee Jaxx.
He can next be seen on the big screen reprising his role as IMF agent Ethan Hunt for 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol', which is set to be released in December.
