Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth starrer Rana has been in news for one or the other reason ever since it was announced. The latest buzz about the multilingual movie is that Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha was the first choice of film bosses for the female lead, but her name was dropped from the list after Rajini denied to romance his friend's daughter.Rajinikanth and Sona's father Shatrughan Sinha have been very close friends ever since they acted together in Asli Naqli in 1986. They have constantly been in touch with each other. Now, sources claim that Rajini’s family did not want the superstar to romance his old family friend’s daughter Sonakshi Sinha.
It is reported that director KS Ravikumar had to accept the decision of Rajini family and nix the idea of casting Sonakshi even before it became public. Finally, the film bosses chose actress Deepika Padukone for the heroine's role. However, the shooting of the movie Rana has been stalled over the ill-health of Rajini.
