Cyrus Album Inspired By Afghanistan Trip
Singer Billy Ray Cyrus was inspired to write his new album I'M American as a tribute to U.S. troops after a number of bombs went off during his performance in war-torn Afghanistan.
The Achy Breaky Heart hi
tmaker has been a long-time supporter of American soldiers and retired troops and was so moved by a 2009 trip to the Middle Eastern country, he penned a number of his upcoming tunes in honour of those risking their lives to serve their country.
He recalls, "During one of the performances outside of Kabul, some bombs went off during the song Some Gave All (a Vietnam War tribute) and I paused. And one of the soldier's stood up and said, 'Keep going Mr. Cyrus. We're used to it.'
"I finished the song and it was that moment that I knew I was going to do a whole album and salute these troops. They are the bravest men and women."
